May 22nd Event: Points of Interest
Join The Tyee, Greystone Books and Russell Books to celebrate the release of Points of Interest, an anthology of thirty essays and articles rooted in different points on a map of British Columbia, The Tyee’s home province.
More than a visitor’s guide to the region, the anthology is “an insider’s guide to the hot spots, bright spots, and dark corners of B.C., a place that never fails to surprise,” says John Vaillant.
Featuring the distinct perspectives of some of the region’s most celebrated writers, these essays run the gamut: take the 100-Mile Diet north with J.B. MacKinnon and Alisa Smith; discover the truth about blueberry picking in Abbotsford with Harrison Mooney; learn how seagulls on Granville Island are controlled using raptors with Michelle Cyca; and unearth the fate of Cumberland’s early Chinese community with Michael John Lo.
From Victoria to Atlin, Tofino to the Chilcotin, Points of Interest takes readers on an eclectic literary road trip through B.C. culture.
Free. Stop by from 6:00 p.m. onwards. Remarks and readings start at 6:45pm. Please note this event will take place at Caffe Fantastico Roastery (965 Kings Road) NOT in-store at Russell Books

We have lots of fun events planned, so come down to the store on August 1st and help us celebrate!

It feels especially meaningful to be celebrating our 60th anniversary after such a challenging year. Living through a pandemic has reminded us of the importance of books in getting through tough times, and made us even more grateful for the support of our community. Here’s to another 60 years of great books!
