Originally published in 1842 as two volumes, this collaboration between two talented men has not seen print in years. The first section contains a stunning collection of landscapes wooded gorges, crashing waterfalls, wind-swept seashores, dramatic mountain scenery and views of towns and villages. The Second concentrates on ancient ruins, churches, monuments, castles and stone circles.The text describes the various regions of Ireland in turn as they appeared at the time of the author's travels; he also gives a short factual history of each town or region visited, and pointing out how scenery has inspired generations of artists and writers.
