This Game of War

Ed Butts uses historical fiction to explore issues of the present day. Sadly there is nothing new about the problems we face and the wars that result. Our ancestors faced them too and This Game of War helps kids make a connection between the past and their present.

Teddy experiences the camaraderie, fear, danger and devastation of life in a war zone. He learns about the lives of the people who fought in wars and he encounters his own ancestors who unknowingly help him to survive. If kids are going to learn about war, Ed Butts believes that they should be given a complete and honest account without glorifying it.
