The Story of Nell Gwyn [Cosway Portrait]

Sangorski & Sutcliffe Signed Fine Binding with Cosway Portrait. Octavo. Fully-bound in red leather with raised bands on spine. Gilt stamped decoration and initials to spine and front, with gilt spine titles. Cosway portrait is bound onto front pastedown. The colour portrait depicts a woman and is housed in an oval of gilt surrounded by blue and red leather with gilt stamped decoration. Rear pastedown is also blue and red leather. The free endpapers are covered, on one side, in blue cloth with simple gilt decoration. All outer edges of the textblock are gilt. Extra illustrated 6 coloured engraved illustrations and 33 b/w engraved illustrations. Small ink stain to the top outer corner of about 45 of the pages with the damage remaining the margins.
