What If I Was the Storm? is about a twelve- to thirteen-year-old-girl who was in a very mentally abusive relationship but didn't realize it until it was too late. She struggled with it for a year and had no idea how to cope.

After the abuser decides she's not good enough anymore, he leaves, and everything she does reminds her of how much of a terrible person she is.

But is she a terrible person? Or was she tricked into believing that? She slowly found out writing poetry was an escape to everything happening in her life at that moment. How mentally abused do you have to be to write a book about it?
