Three Northeast Arkansas siblings, Sarah, 12, Johnny, 9, and Mark, 5, come home from school one day and find their stepfather forcing their mother to move away with him to St. Louis. When the kids are placed in the home of an abusive local minister, they run away, hoping to find their mother. Soon caught, Sarah is returned to the home of the abusive preacher while her brothers are placed in a different home. When fate intervenes, and their stepfather is killed in an industrial accident, the kids are reunited with their mother. Soon, Sarah's abuse is discovered, and the preacher is tried but acquitted. Feeling guilty for helping her husband escape punishment, the minister's unstable wife resolves the problem, and Sarah rebuilds her family. Carl P.
