FAQ
How can I contact you?
Click on the Contact Us button in the main menu. We will gladly answer your phone call, email or fax inquiry as quickly as we can.
For general inquiries, please email
info@russellbooks.com
Are all these books used?
No! While much of our stock is used, we have thousands of new books as well! Please check the description of the book you are interested in to determine whether it is new, used, or antiquarian. Books marked "As New" are in such good condition that our staff cannot determine if it is has ever been read!
How much will it cost to ship to me?
It depends on where you live and how many books you are purchasing. Our shipping rates are calculated based on average book sizes, so in the event that your books are oversize, or extremely heavy, we will contact you. The shipping options in the checkout area will let you select a low rate, slow shipping method, or a faster shipping service. Feel free to choose whichever suits your needs!
I can't seem to find what I am looking for!
Please contact us! We have hundreds of thousands of books in our retail locations that have yet to be inventoried. We would be happy to look for you!
Do you buy used books?
Yes we do! We have a book buyer on staff Monday to Saturday. (there are some rare exceptions) We are always interested in seeing your gently used books. We offer store credit and in most cases can also pay in cash. In the mornings before 12 is the best time to catch us when we are not busy and find yourself a parking spot, but anytime before 4pm is okay too!
What type of books do you buy?
This is a tough one... We sell all kinds of books, from Antiquarian to Zadie Smith, so it is hard to narrow it down. Condition is the first thing we look at but that doesn't necessarily mean we won't take it. If it is in bad condition but is a really good book we might make an exception but generally books that are ragged and in poor condition we will pass on. Some highlighting and underlining might be okay but water damage or loose pages are bad. (so are funky odors) As for the type of books we go for. Hardcover fiction we are very selective with, as well as text books or any other subject that gets out-dated fast like computers and business. Books on how to profit from the coming millenium melt-down would be a good example! That being said - bring your books downtown, we will take a look and maybe give you something for them, if not - there are lots of great places close by that are looking for your donations, like the Greater Victoria Public Library (not your 1970's Encyclopedia sets though - I don't know what to do with those?!?)
