Selling us your gently used books
Monday-Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
When: Monday-Saturday
9:00am-4:00pm. We buy good quality used books every day of the week except Sundays and Holidays. For large amounts
(six boxes or more) it is best to come between 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Tuesday through
Thursday when we are a little quieter.
How it works: Bring your books to the ground floor
where staff at the front counter can help you. Allow yourself 15-20 minutes to
browse the store while the book buyer assesses your books. If you need
a dolly to help you carry in several boxes please ask at the front to borrow
one. Unfortunately, our employees are not allowed to leave the store to assist
you.
What you get for your books: We buy books we can
resell. We typically offer up to 50% of what we will hopefully sell the books
for in Store Credit. We typically do not offer cash on amounts less than 20
dollars, and any cash offers made are at the discretion of the book buyer. Any offer we do make (cash or credit) will
fluctuate based on the desirability and quality of books, their condition, and
our own inventory levels.
Parking: There is metered on-street parking in front
of our store, but we are also located near a city parkade on View Street. The parkade has pedestrian access to Fort Street. We
have first hour free parking passes for this parkade at the front counter. Large Amounts of Books: If you have over 1000 books, we might be able to
have one of the book buyers come to you. Please call the store (250) 361-4447
to discuss your books and possibly arrange a viewing. What we are interested in: From antiquarian books to the latest releases,
academic books to children’s books, we are interested in just about anything.
We get in over a THOUSAND books everyday in all categories. We do accept books
in various conditions, but we prefer them in perfect condition. A little crease
here or there or some highlighting and underlining won’t necessarily prevent us
from buying it, but it will affect the price you get.
What we will not buy: Books in bad condition. This includes: loose
pages, cracked spines, funky odours, excessive marking, and rips and tears. We
also do not buy Readers Digest Condensed books, outdated textbooks and computer
manuals, encyclopedia sets, previous library books, or Harlequin romance
novels. We do carry some select magazines, but generally do not buy many.
For further questions regarding book buying please call us at (250) 361-4447 (ask to speak to a Book Buyer).
